That's what I used to tell myself during the daily commute, crammed into a Piccadilly Line carriage with all the other 8:35am sardines/sheep. I hoped it would all start to feel worthwhile. But it didn't!
"I can cook. I know that. I've been cooking great food since my dad showed me how to make my first omlette when I was five years old. I have always made especially good desserts. I wish I could do that as my job, but I'm in my mid 30s so it's too late ... isn't it? Well no, it isn't Emile (that's my name by the way). This may be your last chance to take control of your life and be truly happy. Do it! Come up with a plan!"
Side note: talking to yourself is often viewed as a sign of madness, but they tend to be my most productive conversations.
So I started planning. It took over a year to come up with my ideal route to happiness but it was worth the wait. I was going to bake and sell brownies to the masses! August 2016 - I handed in my resignation. It was the best decision I ever made.
So here we are! My dream job is now a reality and I love it! Based out of our own dedicated kitchen in Acton, West London, a small team of us turn out mountains of delicious brownies each week, adding new seasonal recipes along the way and having loads of fun in the process.
There have been some ups and downs, but we're getting great feedback from more and more happy customers. Our recipes and ideas are continuing to evolve and Just Another Slice is going to take the world by storm. Watch this space!
